Objectives:
Construct models of molecule :
- determine molecular shapes
- Predict polarity of molecules
Materials:
- Molecular model kit
Procedure :
- Build a model for each of the molecules listed on the data table on th back of this page.
(Some atoms can form multiple bonds.) - Draw the three dimensional structure of each molecule in table 1. use solid lines to represent bonds in the plane of the paper, dashed lines for bonds that point back from the place of the paper, and wedged lines for bonds that point out from the plane of the paper, and wedged lines for bonds that point out from the plane of the paper toward the viewer.
- note the shape of each molecule in the third column of table 1, the blond angles in column 4, whether or not they will be polar in column 5 and whether or not they exhibit resonance structure in column 6.
Polar:No
Polar: Yes
Polar: No
Polar: No
Polar: Yes
Polar: Ionic
Polar: Yes
Polar: Yes
This is H2O2
Polar: Yes
Polar: Yes
Polar: No
Polar: Yes
This is CH4
In conclusion:
The shape of the Molecular structure is in direct relation to the number of valence electrons in each atom
Good job with inserting all the pictures but put labels in appropriate places and make sure it is clear how to follow your format.
ReplyDeleteGood job
ReplyDeleteWOW, this looks very well developed, the organization of the pictures seems good. I liked how you took a picture of what the model kits will include, that will be helpful for other students to try out this lab. Way to think out of the box, havent seen that done yet. <>< God Bless
ReplyDeleteThis is a very nice blog you guys..
ReplyDeleteVERY NICEEEEE, how much!!
king of the castle
nice job beef chow
The only possible change that I could see with this blog, is to change it to paragraph format. Otherwise, good job!
ReplyDeleteyou for got some of the names of your pictures
ReplyDeleteI found you......
ReplyDeleteThe only thing i can see is that the the paragraph should be reconstructed around the pictures better, because as of now its hard to read, but other than that, you guys did good.
